You might be surprised what really happens behind closed doors.
The Legislative process can be complicated and time-intensive to navigate. I have spent the last 20 years learning the real nature of the legislative process in Tallahassee and I have learned what works and does not work through my personal experience.
Preparation is the foundation for success in securing legislative successes and I will share with you tips on how to successfully pass good legislation or how to defeat bad legislation.
Knowing the political landscape is crucial, such as knowing which elected or appointed official to contact for specific issues and who to communicate with to get results. When a bill is not moving, I know all the possible impediments, such as other lobbying organizations opposing the bill, objections by committee staff, leadership, etc.
Although the 2022 Legislative session is over and the next session will not begin until after the November general election, we must start the process now to achieve legislative success in the 2023 Legislative Session. After the November election, legislators will be sworn in and begin filing bills immediately. In fact, candidates for the state House and Senate are already considering which bills to file.
When Legislators begin filing legislation, I will be tracking the bills that affect our liberty, providing you alerts with bill analysis and how to take action.
